Sasha The Chocolate Lab

DFW Pet Sitting Services Featured Dog

I traveled to McKinney Texas to see a dog named Sasha and her owner Dorcas, a pet that DFW Pet Sitting Services takes care of. Sasha the chocolate Lab is a dog that Dorcas rescued five years ago when she lived in Pennsylvania.

Sasha is my best friend

I can tell right away when a dog owner bonds tightly with their dog. There is a certain chemistry there that is unmistakable, and I witnessed it between Dorcas and Sasha the chocolate Lab. Dorcas says she takes Sasha everywhere with her except to work or in the car on a Texas hot summer day.

Dorcas spends a lot of time with Sasha. She takes Sasha for long walks and whenever she goes hiking Sasha is with her. She has even taken Sasha to a dog park where she says Sasha is very protective of the other dogs, especially the small ones.

Sasha is well trained, well behaved

Sasha is a high energy dog and a gentle dog at the same time. She loves to run even chasing squirrels. Evenings she sits on the couch with her owner while Dorcas reads or watches TV.

Sasha has had basic training. Dorcas enrolled her in a training school early in her life and then followed that up with a personal trainer for her at the house. She responds to basic commands such as sit, lie down, leave it, drop it, and crate which means go to your crate where she feels safe. Sasha can obey more complicated commands and Dorcas showed me one where she rings the bells, jingle bells attached to the front door.

All too soon it was time to leave. I wanted to stay and play with Sasha and maybe roll around with her on the floor. I think we could have great fun. I’ll bet she loves to play with a tennis ball, something I forgot to ask. A dog can have many friends but only one best friend and owner, so I reluctantly took my leave.

Great story and pictures, Fred. It is obvious Shasha is loved and well taken care of by her “best friend”. I am sure you enjoyed visiting with them both.
